چکیده
MULTIPLE DERANfJEMENTS OF CATION HOMEOSTASIS have been reported with the use of haemodilution techniques in patients undergoing open-heart surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass, t'~ However, there have been few reports on alterations in ionic calcium ~.~ or magnesium, in particular when relatively large volume acid citrate dextrose blood primes are used in children. This has special relevance in view of the chelating effect of citrate on both calcium and magnesium ions, s,~ It is the ionized fractions of calcium and magnesium which determine their effect on cell membrane stabi]ity, myocardial contractility, and on the central and peripheral nervous system as well as on skeletal and smooth musculature. '~ The present report deals with plasma and urinary changes in divMent cations occurring in paediatrir patients undergoing open-heart operation with eardlopulmonary bypass in which ACD or heparinized blood primes were diluted with 5 per cent glucose in 0.9. per cent sodium chloride,

APROTININ: EFFECTS ON BLOOD LOSS AND FRESH FROZEN PLASMA REQUIREMENT IN CARDIAC OPERATIONS
ABSTRACT Background: Aprotinin has been used increasingly to reduce postoperative blood loss in open-heart operations due to the potentialities for complications and high cost, it would seem reasonable to use aprotinin more selectively in small doses in the prime solution of the pump. Methods: We prospectively studied the effect of preoperative low dose aprotinin [2 million units (230mg)] on b...

Objective One of the common problems of patients undergoing open heart surgery is physiological disorders due to anxiety that can affect the result of surgery. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Benson relaxation on the physiological sysmptoms of patients undergoing open heart surgery. Methods This is a clinical trial performed on 90 candidates for open heart surgery referr...

Introduction: Prevalence of stroke following coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG) is % 2.1-5.2 and associated with high mortality. The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of carotid artery disease in patients undergoing CABG surgery. Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed in the years 2010-2011 on 192 patients who underwent open heart surgery (CABG) in...
متن کاملThe Effect of ringer Lactate as the Priming Solution of the Cardiopulmonary by Pass Circuit on Plasma Potassium Levels after Open Heart Surgery in Children
Background: Conduct of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) due to the higher volume of priming solution in comparison to the total blood volume in children requires careful consideration. Recently attention has been focused on the potential risk of hyperkalemia in these patients. Given its significant effects on cardiac rhythm, hyperkalemia is considered a medical emergency. In this cross-sectional st...
متن کاملEffects of an Orem-based Self-care Program on the Orem's Pattern of Lower-extremity Edema in Patients Undergoing Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting
Background & Objective: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a cardiovascular disorder associated with long-term constraints in the patients' life. Open heart surgery is an effective treatment for CAD, and the postoperative complications require extensive care, especially by the patient. Self-care education plays a key role in this regard, particularly based on Orem self-care model. The present stu...
